Busselton City Football Club mark 100 year soccer milestone with trio of events

Busselton City Football Club is beginning the year on a high note as it launches celebrations to mark 100 years of soccer in the Capes. Now one of the biggest clubs in the region, Busselton City was formed in 1922 and will celebrate with three events in coming months. To ensure the milestone is as momentous as possible, the club has begun collecting stories, photos and memorabilia from long-time members and friends to help younger generations “walk down Busselton football memory lane” at each event. Club president Sami Ryan has called on past players and supporters to get on board and contact the club to contribute. “This is such a fantastic milestone to celebrate what a deep and rich history we have in the sport we love,” she said. “It is fantastic to see the excitement that this celebration brings to not only our past members, but new ones as well. “We look forward to reminiscing about our past achievements and celebrating what our future holds.” Next month the club will host an open day to kick off festivities, followed by a gala night on April 9. To round out the string of events, the club will host an exhibition match on May 14 dubbed Festival of Football.
