Queensland Police ramp up efforts to find woman missing at Emu Creek camping ground
The body of a 53-year-old woman has been found following an extensive search, after she had reportedly fallen into water while tubing and failed to resurface.
The woman vanished after falling into fast-moving water while tubing at Emu Creek in Queensland’s Somerset region – about 175km northwest of Brisbane – shortly after 4.20pm on Tuesday.
Extensive efforts by emergency services to find the woman carried on into Tuesday night, with helicopter, drone and swift-water rescue crews assisting the search.
The search continued around the camping area at Glenhowden Rd, Anduramba on Wednesday, with police divers brought on to help with the effort.
On Wednesday, police confirmed the woman’s body had been located.
Her death is not being treated as suspicious.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
The region has been battered by showers and storms over the past week, making conditions difficult with rising rivers and flooding.
