Pizza and passion for Indian trip
A Busselton restaurant has thrown its support behind three local teenagers who are set to volunteer in India.
Al Forno on Bussell Highway is inviting people to attend a pizza lunch this weekend to raise money for the India Immersion Group.
The group includes Busselton residents Luz-Anne van Diest, 17, Nic Piggott, 17, and Benita Milicich, 18.
They will travel to Kolkata in December to volunteer at orphanages originally set up by Mother Teresa.
Luz-Anne said they were trying to raise as much money as possible for the trip.
“We’ll be caring for children for two weeks, ” she said.
“Many of the kids there are disabled or have been abused and there’s so many people that it’s really hard for all the volunteers to care for everyone.”
Luz-Anne said she had always been passionate about helping others.
An immersion trip to East Timor with her school last year had been “life changing.”
She urged people to drop by the restaurant between noon and 3pm on Sunday to enjoy a slice of pizza for a gold coin donation.
