Leadership, dedicated volunteering earn Vicki Chadwick honour of Narrogin’s community citizen of the year

An outstanding volunteer in Narrogin has been named citizen of the year for her giving nature in the community and commitment to the town’s future. Vicki Chadwick received the community citizen of the year award medallion and certificate on Sunday during the Narrogin Australia Day community breakfast event at Alby Park. The Shire of Narrogin commended Ms Chadwick for her numerous leadership roles, outstanding shire contributions, and voluntary commitments that had “significantly enriched the community”. Ms Chadwick has stepped up as the Narrogin and Districts Netball Association president, Narrogin Agricultural Society president and secretary, and the local stud breeders association president and secretary. “Mrs Chadwick’s tireless dedication, leadership, and ability to inspire others make her a deserving recipient of this esteemed accolade,” Shire of Narrogin president Leigh Ballard said. Ms Chadwick said she was shocked and honoured to be nominated and to win the major award. “It was a fantastic day and an honour to receive the citizen of the year,” she said. “I was very excited and it was wonderful being part of the seven nominees. “The celebrations were excellent. The Shire of Narrogin did a fantastic job, and the different volunteers that helped out it on as well.” Ms Chadwick said she loved volunteering for her community because it helped build Narrogin’s future. “It’s for the future generations in the community within Narrogin and outer regions — that’s what I’m thinking of more than anything. “You meet lots of people from diverse backgrounds, make new friends, and you can see things going forward into the future and not at a standstill.” Ms Chadwick said she planned to continue volunteering in 2025 so she could be part of the community and ensure projects moved forward.
