James Unwin has been named head coach of the Goldfields Football League’s women’s team gearing up for the annual country championships.

Three assistant-coaches will support Unwin — Boulder mentor Terrence Winner, Brendan Ryan and Jess Coad.

Support staff include GFL chair Eshe Christie and Ella Smith as team managers, complemented by Maddi Katzorke and Claire Conroy.

This year’s carnival will be played on October 3-4 at Mandurah’s Lane Group Stadium and will feature teams from eight leagues.

The GFLW will contest division two, alongside Great Southern, North Pilbara and Esperance.

Official GFLW guernsey presentations will be made on Sunday night at the Kalgoorlie Overland Motel from 6.15pm.
