Head gardener Kale Roberts and the Bob Melville will give the public a glimpse of the garden’s evolution over six years while also providing an educational benefit for horticulture enthusiasts on May 6.

Mr Roberts said it was rare to find a concentration of roses on this scale in the region, with close to 1000 of various types on the property.

He said talks on the day would cover the site’s design, implementation and care routine as well as a range of home tips.

“There’s a lot of time and passion involved in getting it to that point,” he said.

“Once the roses are older and more mature, it gets to be an even better spectacle.”

Mr Roberts said he planned the timing of the event to have the best chance of presenting the roses during their last bloom of the season.

“Hopefully the autumn flush coincides and there will be an abundance of perfume and beautiful flowers,” he said.

The open day will be held from 10am to noon.

Guests will be treated to a morning tea before the guided tour of the garden.

Tickets cost $15.
