GSCA 2024-25: Broomehill win pink stumps day, twin centuries for Kendenup & Taylor’s unbeaten ton for Cougars

Broomehill remain clear on top of the ladder with two rounds left in the regular season of the Great Southern Cricket Association after their pink stumps day triumph. The Bandicoots hosted a pink stumps day fundraiser at their home ground on Saturday and scored an important one-day win, downing Tambellup in a high-scoring affair. It was a round for the batters, as Kendenup had twin centuries in their win at home and Kojonup’s Harry Taylor also reached triple figures in round 13. Englishman Max Jordison made his biggest score of the season, with his 71 vital in the Bandicoots making a big score of 9-225 batting first. Despite Tambellup opener Flynn Cristinelli making 72, the home side notched their 11th win of the season after James Barritt snared five wickets to lead the Bandicoots to a 36-run win. A 79-run partnership between Flynn Cristinelli and Jedd Herbert gave Tamebllup a strong chance in the chance. Flynn Cristinelli became the first scalp for James Barritt and when Herbert departed after a patient 49, Tambellup were 7-166. The Bandicoots bowled 20 extras but James Barritt returned 5-26 from six overs and was well supported by Scott Lamont (2-11) as Tambellup were bowled out for 189. Jordison led the way, hitting five boundaries in his half-century that came from 98 balls. David Hinchcliffe also reached a half-century, making 53 from 62 deliveries, while openers Jack Batchelor (23) and James Barritt (18) made solid starts. Devon Cristinelli (2-44) and Matthew Lamont (2-16) snared multiple wickets for the visitors. The win leaves the Bandicoots eight points clear on top of the ladder, with Kendenup and Kojonup locked together on 41 in second and third respectively. Tambellup are in a fight with Katanning Wanderers for the last finals spot, with Tambellup two points ahead going into the final two matches. The Wanderers missed a chance to jump into the top four, going down by 35 runs against Kendenup in Kendenup. Centuries from Jakob Douglas and Clinton Gilbert steered Kendenup to victory as they made 4-261 batting first. Douglas belted 11 boundaries in his 102 from 114 balls before falling to Emily Pinney, while Gilbert was unbeaten on 102 with seven fours and one six. Ely Anderson and Caleb Keley gave the Wanderers a chance, smacking half-centuries, but Gilbert capped a magnificent day with four wickets to ensure Kendenup stayed in second spot. Anderson made a run-a-ball 75, hitting an impressive six maximums, while Keley also cleared the rope four times in his 57 from 42 balls. Ryan Sinclair (31) and Joe Raynor (22) also made solid contributions but their side was bowled out for 226 in reply. Gilbert led the way with 4-21 from 6.5 overs. Kojonup were set just 160 to win in their clash with Australs North in Katanning. Carson Dewar top-scored for the Lions with 58 while Axle Pearce made 33 not out and Kane Scott hit 31 at the top. Jamie Young (4) and Geoffrey Pethick (8) were out early in the chase for the Cougars but Taylor cracked a wonderful century, hitting eight fours and five sixes on his way to 103 not out from 79 balls. That effort was enough to hand the Cougars a seven-wicket win in the 26th over.
