Paynesville fatal crash: Man, 42, charged with dangerous driving occasioning death over Mid West collision

A 42-year-old truck driver has been charged in relation to a fatal crash in the remote Mid West last weekend. Police allege a prime mover towing two trailers collided with a Mazda BT-50 utility on Mt Magnet-Sandstone Road in Paynesville on Sunday, November 3, about 12.25pm. Paynesville is an abandoned town in between Mt Magnet and Sandstone. The 63-year-old man driving the Mazda died at the scene from critical injuries. The 42-year-old driver of the prime mover sustained minor injuries. Officers from the major crash squad are investigating the cause of the crash. Just days after the collision, police charged a 42-year-old man from Dalyellup in the State’s South West with one count of dangerous driving occasioning death. He is due to appear in Geraldton Magistrates Court on Friday, November 22.
