Life Without Barriers, Revolutions Geraldton and Variety WA join forces to deliver 25 bikes to kids in care

A community initiative has seen 25 bikes delivered to children in care in Geraldton in a bid to boost their physical activity, reduce their stress and give them a sense of independence. Life Without Barriers child and family practitioner Danica Clow successfully applied for funding through Variety WA to buy the bicycles to support children in out-of-home care. “This initiative is a great example of how community partnerships can create positive outcomes for children and young people in out-of-home care,” Ms Clow said. “It’s rewarding to see the impact that these bicycles will have, from offering kids more mobility to encouraging outdoor activity and recreation.” The project saw Life Without Barriers, Variety WA and Geraldton bike shop Revolutions join forces to bring the vision to life. All three have previously teamed up to deliver community projects to benefit children and young people. This latest initiative was quite the challenge for Paul Baldock, from Revolutions, to source the 25 bikes and build them before Christmas. “Revolutions Geraldton are a family-owned business servicing the region for over 40 years. It was a privilege to work with both Life Without Barriers and Variety WA to deliver this project to children in need,” Mr Baldock said.
