A brilliant Zane Marwick century propelled Wanderers to a huge win over Bluff Point in Saturday’s Geraldton Bendigo Bank Cricket League.

His unbeaten 116 took his haul this summer to 654 runs at 72.66. He also took 4-40 for a tally of 28 wickets at 9.10 and two catches for a hoard of 15.

Wanderers’ Kade Gillingham chose to bat after he won the toss and despite the early loss of Gus Heberle to Mitch McAuliffe (2-48), it was all Wanderers after that.

Marwick added 111 with Damien King (56), 83 with Ian Oglesby (41) and an unbeaten 55 with Colin Culloton (24no).

Jayden Pinto (2-48) had late spoils while James Morrison (0-26 off 10 overs) was best of the bowlers.

The Pointers replied with 143 after being 3-13, thanks to King (2-21). There were runs from Sam Millett (29), Pinto (22), Carl Shilling (22) and Aaron Joss (32).

At Wonthella, Sportsmans continued their revival with victory over Chapman Valley-Northampton. They had first use after captain Riley Barham won the toss and made 6-193.

Ryan Dixon’s (23) solidity allowed Clint Yeates (80no off 112 balls) and Glenn Wishart (37 off 34 balls) to plunder 82 off a tiring attack. Yeates has 299 runs this summer at 59.80.

Patrick Walsh (2-28) and Bobby Gibson (2-22) were best of the bowlers.

CVN scored 139 with their standout being Taj Satie (69). He added 46 with Adam Goacher (19) to get CVN to 2-54 but they fell away after Goacher was caught by Dan Welsh off Yeates.

Welsh (4-38) continued his impactful return while Zac Williamson (2-25) bowled well and ran out Nigel Routledge first ball.

Bluff Point won Friday night’s Young Motors T20 against CVN at Wonthella thanks to Antonio Paradella’s career-best 5-16.

He took the key wickets of Satie and Routledge (18) and finished with three more in the last over.

CVN’s Mitch Marsh won the toss and batted. His team made 8-94 with Gibson (30). Courtney McLeod (15) was good until run out by Matt Reid’s return to Joss.

Bluff Point replied with 5-95 though at 3-39 CVN was on top after Walsh (2-15) made inroads.

Bluff Point steadied with a stand of 32 between Callum Joss, captain in the absence of Jay O’Brien, and Millett (28 not out). They lost one more wicket before securing the win.
