The end of the junior football season in Busselton means one thing — the beginning of cricket season.

Junior registrations are now open and keen young cricketers are encouraged to sign up.

Grades include the Junior Blasters for ages 5-7, Master Blasters for ages 7-10, modified rules divisions for age 9 and older, Under 14s, and Under 16s.

St Mary’s Cricket Club president Ben Mattock said last year’s season was a success, not only for the senior A-grade premiership but also for the impressive development of several junior players who were pushing for A-grade selection.

“Last season we had 130 players wearing the blue and white of St Mary’s and we think we will have slightly more this season,” he said.

“With some really exciting Ashes test matches on at the moment, hopefully it generates some extra interest leading into the season.

The WA Cricket Association will be holding a “come and try” afternoon on Monday, September 9 at Barnard Park from 4pm for all interested junior players.

Perth Scorchers players will conduct coaching clinics and autograph sessions with kids.
