People of all ages are being entertained again this Christmas as the Fairway Drive Santa keeps up his tradition of doing a series of skits on his front lawn.

Well-known and stuffed, the West Busselton icon has been standing strong since 2009, each day displaying a new activity to cheer passing traffic.

Homeowner and the mastermind behind the display Melissa O’Neill said the beloved tradition started as a bad joke but was now a well-accepted Christmas activity.

“I just come up with any random way I can display him,” she said.

“My friends are really good at coming up with ideas, same with the kids at the schools I work at.”

The display shows a life-size Santa Claus replica acting out funny activities. Crabbing, mulching, and toilet paper hoarding are just some of the funny skits created this month.

“Kids roll down their car windows and slow down to see what Santa’s doing each day and take photos. Seeing people get so much joy out of it makes me want to keep doing it,” Ms O’Neill said.

Each idea is more quirky than the last, and Ms O’Neill said she received mounds of thank-you letters and notes of encouragement every year. “Thank you to everyone for the positive comments — you are the reason that I keep doing it,” she said.

Fairway Drive Santa’s activities change each day in December, and families are encouraged to drive by to see his antics up until Christmas Eve.
