Police rescuers praised

Busselton Dunsborough Times

Two Busselton police officers have been hailed as heroes after coming to the aid of a 25-year-old woman trapped inside a car sinking into the water bordering Layman Road in Geographe last Saturday.

The pair were flagged down by a member of the public about 1.15pm after the woman drove her Ford Falcon sedan over the edge of the road’s retaining wall.

While one officer called for assistance, the other dived into the water and smashed the rear window with his baton before helping the woman escape to safety.

The woman only suffered minor injuries.
