Masters keen for an early kick-off
Busselton AFL Masters Football Club begins pre-season training tonight at Lou Weston Oval.
Busselton’s over-33s Football Club plays every two or three weeks against other Masters rules clubs in the South West and make trips to other regional areas and to the Perth Country Carnival.
Club president George Pearson encouraged new and existing members to enjoy the early start to pre-season training.
“Masterules is a great way for newcomers to town to quickly meet new people through a calendar of games and social events designed to include all players and their families,” he said.
“The Masters rules motto is Football for Kicks.
“The emphasis is on playing a social brand of football that also allows players to maintain a bit of fitness as they get older.” The social calendar is also jam-packed with a variety of events which involve the whole family.
While footy for kicks is the focus, club members also support local groups through charitable donations and support for juniors.
As a result of fundraising efforts, the club haas donated more than $110,000 so far. Players interested in joining Busselton AFL Masters can contact Mr Pearson on 0406 654 083or attend the King Street training sessions at Lou Weston Oval on Fridays during February and March from 5.30pm.
Non-players and social members are also welcome to join.
