Margaret River Region Open Studios hosts 10th anniversary art dinner, with auction prizes bigger than ever

Margaret River Region Open Studios is holding its 10th anniversary art dinner, with the annual art experience auction promising to be bigger than ever. The much-anticipated dinner will this year be held at Aravina Estate and will feature auction prizes which have been created by the artists to provide guests with money-can’t-buy art opportunities. Some of the prizes up for grabs include going underwater with Swan Dive on a private Busselton Jetty Sculpture trail tour to see works by Open Studios artists. A bottle of 2019 Leeuwin Estate Art Series Chardonnay with a personalised artistic embellishment by artist Leon Pericles. An experience to explore a section of the Cape to Cape Track with landscape painter Karina Buckingham who’ll provide artistic tips and tricks and a glass of wine back in her Yallingup studio and vineyard. A blowing glass workshop with Gerry Reilly for you and five of your friends is on offer, as well as the opportunity to get up close to a rescue red-tailed black cockatoo with acclaimed artist Lauren Wilhelm. Even a private studio tour of the well-known Australian artist and this year’s art ambassador Michael Zavros’ creative space, where the winner will be able to see him at work on pieces in various stages of development. Chair of the Margaret River Region Open Studio’s board, Jim Davies, said the Art Dinner was a big fundraiser for the event. “We want to promote some more money can’t buy art experiences, so that people can buy them and bid for them,” he said. “It just worked extremely well last year, it raised something like $20,000 for us and it’s a major part of our funding. “ For more information on the Art Dinner and ticket purchases, visit mrropenstudios.com.au/artdinner.
