Future bright for undefeated City

After defeating Hay Park on Sunday, the Sportspower Busselton City Women’s Premier side emerged as the only team in the South West Soccer Association competitions to win every game this season.

Remarkably, the team has found the back of the net 108 times in just 15 matches while only conceding five goals.

Even with six players missing due to country week commitments on Sunday, City were able to call on the services of Toni Czerwawski, Emily Killick, Sharon Cowley, Banita Stewart and Theresa Charlton. Busselton were quickly into stride in their 5-0 win, with Ariana Longmore’s clinical finishing netting four goals.

Leading goalscorer Siobhan Longmore grabbed the fifth goal with one of her typical long-range efforts in the first half.

Coach Rob Gibbons also gave teenagers Finlay Godden and Jocelyn Anthony an opportunity to play at this level and both performed admirably.

The women’s reserve team were pipped at the post when Blackwood United took out premiership honours for a second successive year.

However, Busselton City is well positioned for 2021 with accomplished players in their ranks..

CMI Busselton City Premier Men’s Premier team finished their season on a positive note with an industrious effort in their 1-1 draw with Dynamos.

The local side worked hard on and off the ball and were rewarded when striker Martin Ryan capitalised on an adroit Mat Evans cross after 15 minutes.

Busselton had the opportunity to extend their lead but were denied by an impressive display of goalkeeping from Kobie Lie, before Dynamos danger man Corey Barclay equalised from close range.

Ryan, Pat Tarrant and Jack Garnham came close to scoring a second-half winner for Busselton.
