Wine connoisseurs will be raising a glass or few at the annual Fine Vines festival in the Margaret River region this week.

Run by AHOY management, the festival is set to highlight the high quality wine on offer in the region.

Over 10 days attendees will get access to the vines, experts and wines from more than 80 local producers.

“Its a celebration of the Margaret River wine region and its incredible producers, vineyards and all the people associated with the wine industry in the region and the incredible work they do,” joint festival director Brianna Delaporte said.

“This event is really championing the Margaret River wine region and that’s why wine is sort of focal point of the festival.

“I think for such a small region, often we probably don’t get the recognition that we deserve, on that stage of having all these incredible producers in the region, so there’s an opportunity for everyone to take part.”

There are more than 30 different events, including dining in the vines, garden parties and different wine tastings and pairings.

“We have the open vineyards event, which is a basically the opportunity to get behind the farm gate at producers that aren’t normally open to the public,” Ms Delaporte said.

“There is 11 producers participating in that event and people have the opportunity to choose their own self-guided adventure through the region and meet the makers and taste some great wine.”

Another event highlight is the Somm Treck, a five-hour, sommelier-hosted vineyard trek with one of WA’s most respected wine educators, Foni Politt.

The tour will visit Windows Estate, Swings & Roundabouts, Marri Wood and Marq Wines with informed commentary about the wines tasted and grazing platters and lunch included.

Margaret River Fine Vines festival is running from October 20-29.
