A goal by CMI Busselton City’s Tristen Carroll was the talking point in his side’s comfortable 6-2 win over Bunbury United on Sunday.

The game was Carroll’s final home game in a 28-year career with the club and he celebrated in style with a superb 30m shot to complete the scoring.

Early forays saw the local team take the upper hand, with several of the Bunbury United side taking time to get to grips with the pace of this level of football.

Busselton quickly got into their work and created a couple of chances before Chadley Edwards displayed his talents with an audacious long-range goal.

Busselton were very much in their stride at this stage and had the better of the rest of the first half with a goal by Brett Colombera and a second by Edwards.

Despite conceding a goal just before the break, Busselton came out firing in the second half and created some momentum but unfortunately could not finish.

In the final 20 minutes they did find the back of the net courtesy of goals to the versatile Rich Amey and the untiring Cameron Best before Carroll’s fitting finale.

In a dress rehearsal for the South West Cup final later this month, Busselton City Reserve side scored a 3-0 win over Bunbury United.

In the first half, Busselton enjoyed both a territorial and possession advantage through the influence of central midfielders Mark McLaren and Jon Seo.

They quickly established a two-goal lead through McLaren but generally lacked a ruthlessness in front of goal.

In the second half, United kept plugging away and created some chances of their own but just could not breach the Busselton defensive wall led by Jesse Gunnis and Braedyn Lander.

Busselton then continued to probe and spread their opposition using the width of the pitch and were rewarded when Rob Seia finished off a quality cross by Callum Bull.

This Sunday, the Reserves and Ladies entertain Dunsborough at home while the Masters travel to play Bunbury United.
