A new ball is set to see attendees don their spookiest outfits for a good cause.

The Brain Eaters Ball is slated for November 1 at Eagle Bay Brewing Co, with the Halloween-themed event to raise funds for research by The Brain Cancer Centre.

Dunsborough residents Tara and Tim Hawken created the idea with the cause close to their hearts.

Ms Hawken was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour in 2010 and given two to five years to live.

After going through two brain surgeries, chemotherapy and radiation, the couple wanted to do something for others going through a similar journey.

“Brain cancer has one of the worst survival rates of any type of cancer,” Ms Hawken said.

“Only one in five people make it past five years, so I’m one of the very, very lucky ones.

“So much more research needs to be done to improve outcomes and provide hope. We’ve put The Brain Eaters Ball together to do just that, and hopefully have some extra fun along the way too.”

The ball will include DJ Mandy B, a drink on arrival and canapes. Gannaways Charters & Tours will be running shuttle buses on the night for those in Dunsborough, Yallingup, Vasse, Busselton, Margaret River and Cowaramup.

An online auction will support the event, which includes a luxury adventure cruise between Rottnest Island and Esperance, a weekend at Smith’s Beach Resort and $2000 international travel voucher.

Ms Hawken said it was shaping up to be an amazing event.

“We’re grateful to have such incredible partners and local businesses come on board to help,” Ms Hawken said.

Money raised from the ball, shuttle buses and auction will go to The Brain Cancer Centre, which funds research projects and clinical trials to improve the outcomes for those with a brain cancer diagnosis.

Tickets can be purchased from the Eagle Bay Brewing Co website, while direct donations and the auction can be made at https://shoutforgood.com/auctions/braineatersball
