The Busselton community held lanterns high on Saturday night in aid of blood cancer and the Leukaemia Foundation.

Friends and families gathered at the foreshore at sunset to enjoy a picnic and live entertainment from local musician Latehorse.

Vasse MLA Libby Mettam opened the walk with a lantern-lighting community ceremony.

Community host Dawn Blanchard said the event was a big success, raising more than $18,000 for the Leukaemia Foundation.

“We were aiming for a goal of $15,000 so it was a really successful event,” she said.
