Car karma
Tuart Drive Bridge car fire co-accused Laurie Butters was convicted of reckless driving on Tuesday in Busselton Magistrate’s Court.
Butters pleaded guilty to one count of reckless driving after her Hyundai Tucson flipped before bursting into flames on Willmott St in Geographe on June 23.
The 42-year-old confessed she was in pursuit of an unnamed person who had stolen $300 from her when she began driving in excess of the speed limit and lost control of her car, only narrowly escaping before it was destroyed.
Butters allegedly picked up 27-year-old David Levi Love and 20-year-old Shannon Margaret Houlihan after they allegedly set fire to a Subaru Impreza parked under the bridge in Wonnerup in a botched “insurance job”.
Butters will reappear in Busselton Magistrate’s court accused of her involvement in the fire on August 18.
