Busselton Woolworths call for donations for families in need

Busselton and Dunsborough Woolworths stores are taking on the fight against food insecurity with the 2021 Feed Appeal.

The stores are aiming to help meet the 47 per cent increase in demand for food relief across Australia over the past 12 months by offering the chance to donate at checkouts.

The annual appeal enables charities and not-for-profit groups across the State to receive grants from the grocery giant.

Busselton’s Kent Street store manager Rochelle Plume said no matter how small the help was, it would make a big difference to struggling families.

“Food insecurity is a very real issue in Australia and the last year has made it even more difficult for those in need,” she said.

“We encourage Busselton-Dunsborough customers to make a donation to the Feed Appeal the next time they shop with us, by simply rounding up their purchase at the checkout.

“Just 50¢ means a meal can be placed in the hands of an Aussie in need.”

All money raised in WA will go to local food relief charities to receive, prepare and distribute food to people in need.

Last year the first Major Feed Appeal Grants were awarded in WA, with $50,000 going to the Aboriginal Biodiversity Conservation Foundation, and $37,500 to St Patrick’s Community Support Centre.
