Burst mains pipe led to water outage, affects thousands of Dunsborough residents

Dunsborough residents have been left without water after a mains pipe burst early on Thursday morning. It is understood the burst occurred suddenly and without warning about 4am. The source of the outage was identified about 9am, and the Water Corporation aimed to have water back on by midday. Water Corporation apologised for the outage on social media. “Customers in Dunsborough are experiencing a water outage due to an incident which has happened suddenly and without warning,” it wrote. “Our crews are working to identify and repair the non-visible leak. “We are incredibly sorry for this inconvenience and thank you for your patience and understanding while our crews work to reinstate supply as quickly and safely as possible.” Limited supplies of bottled water were being supplied at the Dunsborough Lakes Sporting Precinct on the corner of Prestwick Road and Dunsborough Lakes Drive. Water Corporation regional manager Nicky Waite said the outages were likely to affect most of Dunsborough. “It is obviously an emergency incident that has happened without warning . . . incidents like these are rare,” she said “We have some parts of Dunsborough out of water and we expect that potentially (soon) the whole of Dunsborough will be out of water.”
