A 47-year-old Collie man has been charged with possessing a prohibited weapon after they say they found a crossbow at his house.

At 7.15am on Tuesday, police executed a search warrant at a Collie address where they say they found multiple weapons and drugs.

Police say a crossbow and arrows, a 12-gauge shotgun, ammunition, cannabis, and a cannabis plant were found during the search.

The man is expected to appear before the Bunbury Magistrates Court on November 1 facing four charges.

The search warrant came as part of a five-day action plan to address rising crime in the area.

Collie assistant district officer Insp. Glen Willers said the action aimed to increase community safety.

“On Tuesday, in relation to the misuse of drugs in communities like this, we executed four search warrants simultaneously,” he said.

“We were able to pull our resources from neighbouring communities and bring some resources up from Perth.

“We executed those warrants where we seized a considerable amount of drugs, firearms, a crossbow and other items that are concerned for us.

“The biggest concern is still unlicensed firearms in the community so we’re glad to get those off the street — that makes it safer for all the community and the police as well.”

Police said cannabis and methamphetamine were the main two drugs found during the raids.

Insp. Willers had a plain message for offenders.

“We’ll find out who you are. We know that you deal drugs, we know you deal drugs to young people, and we will hold you accountable,” he said.
