Light tanker spills fuel onto South Coast Highway in road crash about 7km from out-of-control bushfire

There is a fuel spill about 7km from an out-of-control bushfire after a light tanker carrying fuel and a ute collided on South Coast Highway. A police spokesman said the fuel from the light tanker spilt onto the road and that the vehicle was blocking the road. The incident on South Coast Highway near Cheynes Road was reported to emergency services at 8.03pm. St John’s Ambulance is on the scene. The bushfire north-east of Albany has been burning since Wednesday morning and has since burnt about 5067ha with hundreds of homes in the area without power after the blaze jumped South Coast Highway and damaged powerlines.
