Thongs flew over attendees’ heads as Albany locals gathered at the Museum of the Great Southern to celebrate WA Day. The thong-throwing competition was only one of the activities offered alongside science and nature shows, origami lessons and a bouncy castle. Children inspected a firetruck while meeting the local emergency services and learning about their roles before heading to a ship on the water and interacting with a pirate. Sleeping Beauty also made an appearance and met many of her fans. The day was bright and filled with colour as happy families decorated in face paint and glitter tattoos enjoyed a sausage sizzle while listening to live music performed by Scitech, Mt Lockyer Primary School choir, Geoff Waldeck and Kimbo, Bird on a Wire choir, and Southern Ukulele Orchestra. Jamie the Clown and Scitech also appeared on stage earlier in the day to share laughs and mind-blowing science experiments.
