Summer colour forecast

From rich reds to deep greens, the key colour trends for summer 2016-17 are all about big, bold shades.

According to Dulux, the hot hues for the coming season also have a distinctly global flavour, with exotic colours that take their cues from tribal and South American influences.

“The summer palette for 2017 has a very different feel when compared with last year’s cool, pastel hues,” Dulux colour expert Andrea Lucena-Orr said.

“This season’s colours evoke a cosy and inviting environment in the home. Rich colours add a dramatic atmosphere, while deeper tones create a sense of tranquillity, ideal for creating a place to relax.”

The latest forecast from Haymes Paint also favours rich, earthy hues. Inspired by the colours found in the layers of the earth, the Strata palette features tans and browns paired with lush deep greens, while Stark Beauty also emphasises bold shades of green, paired with a fresh, minimalist range of whites.

“Volume 8 covers the diverse collection of colour and design directions we see influencing the market globally,” Haymes’ Wendy Rennie said.

“We’ve presented this volume in three distinct colour stories that we believe will work well across interiors, particularly in Australia.”
