Lessons in updating beloved furniture
Chalk paint opens up a wonderland of creativity when it comes to refreshing, sprucing up and repurposing old furniture. Learning how to use it, with a good workshop, can replace years of trial and error, plus it’s loads of fun.
Little Leaf Co has regular (about every two months) workshops on using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint where participants bring in their own small piece of furniture (a chair or small occasional table is perfect), leaving with it finished, painted, waxed and ready to use, plus a whole lot of know-how on using the paint. The next workshop is on August 13 (Myaree); $150 (includes a sample paint pot, brush and light refreshments); visit littleleafco.com.au or call 9317 2010.
Fredericks Furniture has an upcoming For The Love of Paint: Workshop 101 workshop where Sadie will share techniques she uses to paint to create a classic antique French finish, plus how to make chalk paint. Workshop on September 22 (Butler); $195; visit fredericksfurniture.com.au.
Sparrow & Jack Interiorsoffers workshops to equip you with the skills and techniques for your own chalk paint project. Workshops on July 21, August 18, September 8 and October 13 (North Perth); $150 (includes materials and light refreshments). Visit sparrowandjackinteriors.com.au.
Don’t miss Habitat’s special on refreshing old furniture on August 24.
