The Deck Marina Bar and Restaurant manager Sharon Green will aim to be the Leukaemia Foundation UGLY Bartender of the Year next month to raise much-needed funds for cancer.

The Deck will also be holding an UGLY Op Shop Ball to raise money for the foundation.

UGLY stands for Understanding, Generous, Likeable, You and is the Leukaemia Foundation's quirkiest fundraising campaign, supporting regional West Australians with blood cancer.

Ms Green said this was the third time she had taken part in the event, but it was a first for The Deck.

"I've done it before and I wanted to get involved again," she said.

"We're aiming to get a couple of hundred people here and raise enough to make a substantial donation to the Leukaemia Foundation.

"We're also hoping to support local op shops in the process and people go down there and buy second-hand clothes to wear on the night."

The event will include live entertainment by band The Impressions, complimentary drinks and canapés, and a live auction and silent auction.

Eventgoers could also win a raffle to go deep sea diving with Ms Green, who has a fear of sharks.

Ms Green said the staff and band were donating their time to help a good cause.

"Every $30 from each ticket sold will go towards the Leukaemia Foundation, which a big chunk of that money will fund rural patients travelling to Perth for treatment," she said.

"We are still taking donations for the auction and are taking money donations - we want to raise as much money as possible."

The event will be held from 7pm on October 17.

Tickets are $50 and are available now from The Deck or The Dive Shed.

A bus service will be available for pick-up and drop-off for $15 on the night.
