Spice invader curries favour
Word has travelled fast about a new family-run mobile food van serving authentic Indian specialities, with an emphasis on fresh local produce.
Spice Odyssey, which operates in Busselton and Dunsborough, was started by former Cullen Wines and Bunker Bay Resort chef Sathish Kumar.
“We use traditional recipes, simple basic home cooking and a few classic recipes with Indian flavours,” Mr Kumar said.
“I want to keep changing the menu to keep customers happy. If a fisherman catches a fish, I want to use it that day.”
Mr Kumar said he and his wife moved to the region four years ago and were very proud to be here.
“I’m from the South of India but have worked all over India and am familiar with different regional cuisines,” he said.
Mr Kumar said he completed an advanced diploma in cooking and was a chef for 14 years in Singapore.
Trading hours include 11am to 2.30pm between Tuesday and Saturday in Rotary Park opposite the Busselton Shire Council offices, and between 5.30pm and 8pm on Wednesday and Friday at the west end of the Busselton Jetty and Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at the Dunsborough boat ramp.
