Helping the Philippines
Shoppers after a fashion bargain have the chance to help those affected by Typhoon Haiyan.
Busselton ADRA Op Shop in Duchess Street is fund raising for relief efforts in the Philippines.
Shop managers Ron and Lynette Mason will donate all of this week’s takings to the cause.
Mr Mason said they were hoping for strong support from the community.
“We could see the grand nature of the problem and wanted to respond to the need. Every little bit helps,” he said.
The couple are not the only members of their family chipping in.
Grandchildren Mitchell and Nicole Lindbeck, who grew up in Busselton and are now at university in Perth, are among 23 Adventist youth who will fly to the Philippines in December to help out on the ground.
ADRA’s work in the country includes providing emergency food and water; distributing emergency shelter kits and hygiene kits; and establishing toilets, showers and hand washing stations to prevent the spread of disease.
