Canal Rocks' concerns raised

Busselton Dunsborough Times

Concerns about the staging of the Canal Rocks development have been flagged with the Busselton Shire Council ahead of its final sign off on the controversial development next week.

The elected members group will consider the final adoption of the development at Lot 413 Smith Beach after years of public interest in the plans, which have now been redrawn after mediation between the developer and WA Planning Commission.

Representatives of the adjoining resort operator and strata title units presented to the council at its briefing on Wednesday night.

They had concerns about the removal of buffer zones in the revised plan.

Council staff also highlighted a clause in the plan which meant the whole site would be developed at the same time, which opened the door to the tourism component of the development not being seen through.
