Busselton Airport upgrade feasibility study launches

The group tasked with co-ordinating the case for the expansion of Busselton Regional Airport is set to meet for the first time in Perth on Tuesday.

Representatives from the City of Busselton, South West Development Commission, Department of Transport and Department of Treasury will start developing a business case for the upgrade.

SWDC chairman Stuart Hicks said a number of studies were needed to ensure the upgrade was viable.

“The business case is a complex process that involves assessing routes, airline economics, capital investment requirements over time, and operating costs and revenues,” he said.

The plan will look at the feasibility of upgrading and expanding the airport and creating a landside commercial hub for business and industry.
